MALANG, Aug 19 – The Global Outreach Program 2025 marked a significant milestone in international collaboration as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Indonesia, came together to create an enriching platform for academic exchange and cultural immersion. The program served as a strategic platform to strengthen international academic ties and foster cultural exchange between the two institutions. This initiative was led by advisor lecturer, Dr. Mohamad Sukri Mohamad Yusof, of Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FKT) and program director, Nik Iffzan, who demonstrated exceptional leadership in coordinating the program from inception to execution. Dr Sukri’s dedication ensured that students not only gained valuable academic exposure but also experienced meaningful cultural exchange, making this program a resounding success. His efforts in building bridges between UTM and UB exemplify the spirit of global engagement and highlight the faculty’s commitment to internationalization.

The event aimed to enhance student learning through exposure to UB’s expertise in Chem-E-Car, a prestigious competition where UB has consistently emerged as champions and runner-ups. UTM students engaged in a comprehensive Chem-E-Car workshop, which included demonstrations of UB’s award-winning car designs and a Q&A session to deepen understanding of innovative engineering solutions. The visit also featured a university tour showcasing UB’s advanced student clubs, including projects on hydrogen-powered vehicles, electric vehicles, and robotics, reflecting the university’s strong emphasis on future technologies.

Beyond academic engagement, the program celebrated cultural diversity through performances such as Zapin and Dikir Barat by UTM students, alongside traditional Indonesian performances by UB. These cultural exchanges highlighted the shared heritage and friendship between the two nations. The event commenced with an official opening ceremony, featuring introductions from both universities and a program signing ceremony officiated by representatives from UTM and UB, signifying their commitment to future collaborations. The session was led by the program’s advisor from UTM, Dr. Mohamad Sukri Mohamad Yusof.

The program concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo session, symbolizing the success of this collaborative effort. This initiative not only strengthened academic partnerships but also paved the way for future research and student mobility programs, reinforcing UTM’s commitment to global engagement and holistic education.
