ISS Yemen Presents: AI in Medicine and Advanced Robotics Talk

JOHOR BAHRU, July 7 – In the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI), the fields of medicine and robotics are experiencing revolutionary advancements that are transforming industries and enhancing lives. The AI in Medicine and AI in Advanced Robotics Talk, organized by the International Student Society (ISS) Yemen, brought together leading experts from the University of Alberta (Canada) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to explore how AI is reshaping these critical domains.

Held virtually via Google Meet, the session provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the groundbreaking applications of AI in healthcare and robotics. The talk focused on two main areas: the enhancement of medical diagnostics and treatment efficiency through AI, and the automation and precision enabled by AI in advanced robotics. The session offered insights into the current state of AI in these fields, its potential future impact, and the challenges that must be addressed to unlock its full capabilities.

Dr. Abhilash Rakkunedeth Hareendranathan from the University of Alberta opened the session by discussing the latest advancements in AI-enhanced medical imaging and ultrasound analysis. He emphasized how AI algorithms are revolutionizing diagnostics by providing more accurate results in less time, ultimately improving patient care and treatment efficiency. Meanwhile, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad ‘Athif Mohd Faudzi from UTM shared insights into AI’s application in advanced robotics, particularly in bio-inspired robotics and mechatronics. He discussed how AI-powered robotic systems are increasingly used for tasks ranging from surgical procedures to rehabilitation, offering precision, speed, and autonomy across various industries.

The session also covered key topics such as the ethical implications of automation, the role of AI in improving accessibility to healthcare, and the integration of robotics in both medical and industrial sectors. The speakers highlighted the importance of ensuring that AI systems are energy-efficient and suitable for deployment in resource-constrained environments. Participants were encouraged to engage with the experts during an interactive Q&A session, which provided further clarity on complex topics and allowed for the exchange of ideas.

The AI in Medicine and Robotics Talk successfully brought together global thought leaders and participants, fostering valuable discussions on the future of AI and its role in improving healthcare and industry worldwide. This event exemplifies UTM’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements that are shaping the future.
