JOHOR BAHRU, May 7 – The Faculty of Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with the Kulai District Education Office (PPD Kulai), successfully conducted a Knowledge Transfer Programme on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics in Learning, specifically tailored for primary school students. This innovative initiative took place at the Faculty of Management’s premises and marked a significant step in equipping young learners with essential insights into the responsible use of emerging technologies.
The programme was led by Dr. Siti Suraya Abd Razak and drew enthusiastic participants, including students from various primary schools across the Kulai district, as well as teachers and representatives from PPD Kulai. The substantial turnout highlighted the increasing interest in AI ethics as a vital component of modern education.
Structured around interactive learning methodologies, the event featured a wide range of activities designed to effectively engage younger audiences. Through educational games, creative problem-solving exercises, and interactive discussions, students gained foundational knowledge about artificial intelligence and ethical digital practices. Participants explored simplified yet comprehensive explanations of AI functionalities, responsible online behaviour, data privacy, and digital integrity, learning these complex concepts through relatable and age-appropriate examples.
A notable highlight was the Kahoot! quiz competition, where students enthusiastically participated in a vibrant digital quiz designed to test their understanding of AI ethics topics. This activity not only provided an exciting competitive atmosphere but also encouraged collaborative learning, critical thinking, and active recall. The interactive nature of the quiz ensured high levels of participation and motivation, reinforcing students’ understanding of the ethical implications and responsible use of AI technologies.
The programme concluded on a celebratory note with a prize-giving ceremony, during which the top-performing students in the Kahoot! competition received certificates and educational gifts. This recognition significantly boosted the students’ morale, enhancing their confidence and encouraging ongoing interest in ethical digital practices. Teachers and education officers present noted the remarkable enthusiasm and increased awareness among students, suggesting a lasting positive impact on their attitudes toward technology use.
Reflecting on the programme’s success, Dr. Siti Suraya emphasised the critical role of early education in shaping responsible digital citizens.
