UTM International Hosts Heartwarming Program for Orphans

PONTIAN, Mar 19In a heartwarming initiative, the Student Experience unit of UTM International organized a special event called “Program Rewang dan Berbuka Puasa Bersama Anak-Anak Yatim,” which aimed to bring joy and promote cultural exchange among orphans. The event took place at the Pusat Kebajikan Anak Yatim Islam in Pontian, Johor, and 50 orphans, 15 UTM international staff, and 15 international students participated in the program.

This program aligns with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Internationalisation at Home initiative and provides a unique opportunity for international students to immerse themselves in local traditions. The day began with a traditional “rewang” session, where participants collaborated to prepare a variety of dishes for the iftar meal. This collective effort not only introduced international students to the local culture but also fostered a sense of community and teamwork.

One of the primary objectives of the program was to support the orphans by providing a festive and loving environment for them to experience the joy of Ramadan. The event was designed to create a memorable and heartwarming experience for the children, allowing them to feel the warmth and care of the community.
