On November 2nd, 2023, the 12th Asean-Oceania Five Universities Alliance (AOFUA) Joint Management Committee Meeting was held at the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. Esteemed representatives from the consortium’s five universities graced the occasion, including Prof. Chitoshi Miki from Tokyo City University, Br. Bernard Oca from De La Salle University, Prof. Dr. Pruettha Nanakorn from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Mr. Marko Remes from Edith Cowan University, and Prof. Ts. Dr. Ali bin Selamat from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

The agenda consisted of a comprehensive report on the successful AOFUA Summer School 2023 hosted by MJIIT in July. Additionally, Dr. Miki presented an inaugural roadmap for AOFUA, emphasizing the development of innovative educational programs using MOOCs, fostering collaborative research through external funding, and nurturing faculty mobility and exchange programs. The AOFUA secretariat will initiate discussions with member universities to explore the feasibility of implementing a half-semester exchange program, offering students the opportunity to engage in exchanges with two universities within a single semester.

During the meeting, the JMC Board members unanimously appointed Prof. Ts. Dr. Ali bin Selamat as the next Chairperson, marking a significant step in the alliance’s leadership continuity and vision.
