In an effort to enhance the teaching skills of educators in the field of Computer Science, the Certified Advanced PHP Course for Computer Science Teachers was successfully conducted from September 19 to 20, 2023. The event was held at the School of Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and was organised by the In-Service Training Unit at the Temenggung Ibrahim Campus Teacher Education Institution (IPGKTI) in collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). A total of 75 teachers participated to enhance their knowledge and skills in this field.
Led by the programme director, Dr Norasykin Mohd Zaid, the course aimed to improve the programming acumen of teachers with a focus on computer science. The two-day programme, which ran from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, included a comprehensive curriculum aimed at improving lesson preparation, deepening theoretical understanding, and enhancing teachers’ existing skills in teaching computer science content.
Distinguished speakers Ir. Dr. Istas Fahrurrazi bin Nusyirwan and En. Muhammad Syafiq bin Puniran, renowned experts in the field of PHP programming, shared their invaluable insights and experiences with the enthusiastic participants. Their presentations covered advanced PHP topics and provided teachers with the latest tools and techniques to support their students.
The event was organised by a dedicated committee of educators and professionals, including Prof. Dr. Noraffandy bin Yahaya (Advisor), A.P. Dr. Norazrena binti Abu Samah, A.P. Ts. Dr Noor Dayana binti Abd Halim, A.P. Dr Nurbiha binti A Shukor, A.P. Dr Mohd Nihra Haruzuan bin Mohamad Said, A.P. PM Dr Megat Aman Zahiri bin Megat Zakaria, Dr Nurul Farhana binti Jumaat, Dr Norah binti Md Noor, Dr Juhazren bin Junaidi, Ts. Dr. Mohd Fadzil bin Abdul Hanid, Mr. Nurhuda @ Mohd Helmy bin Daud and Mr. Mohd Ali Amran Othman.
The course provided an excellent platform for the participants to exchange ideas, network with like-minded people, and enhance their PHP programming knowledge. It not only contributed to the professional development of educators but also promised to have a positive impact on the quality of computer science education in the region.
