UTM Participated in the Largest Higher Education Conference & Exhibition in Europe to Implement the Evolving Role of International Education

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) participated physically in the 32nd Annual European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference and Exhibition held at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain from 13th to 16th September 2022. UTM was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Sr. Dr. Hishamuddin Mohd Ali and the Acting Director of UTM International, Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin.

With the theme of “The Future in Full Colour”, more than 6300 participants from more than 90 countries participated in the conference. The conference stimulated discussion on how to move forward as a sector and how to implement the evolving role of international education in rising to the challenges of an increasingly globalized world.

A total of more than 200 exhibitors from around the globe, including UTM, have their own physical booths to represent their institutions, government agencies, private sector service providers and more. UTM booth was under the Malaysia Pavilion which was coordinated by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

Apart from UTM, Malaysia Pavilion was also joined by other public universities in Malaysia including Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UniMaS).

Other than attending a number of sharing and parallel sessions, UTM representatives also managed to have meetings with more than 100 potential partners from all over the world. Most of the discussions were focusing on exploring collaboration between UTM and those institutions, especially in the Erasmus+ program, as well as other academic and research activities.

During the exhibition, Prof. Sr. Dr. Hishamuddin had the opportunity to have an exchange of MOU/MOA sessions with Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU), Poland, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand and Altinbas University, Turkiye.

EAIE 2022 has soared UTM’s global visibility and significance for collegial collaborations with new and existing partners around the world. The participation in this four-day physical conference symbolizes UTM’s ambition to reach global eminence as a distinguished Malaysian research university.
