UTMNexus Regional Tour Reaching Out to Southern Partners

Johor Bahru, 30 Jun. — UTMNexus Regional Tour (Southern) was conducted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) Department, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at the DoubleTree Hotel, Johor Bahru. The goal of this initiative was to reach out to both new and long-standing business partners, collaborators, and everyone who has contributed significantly to UTM’s existence and notable achievements over the last 50 years.

Over 100 industry partners were invited to look for successful partnerships and endeavors through innovative solutions and development. By partnering with UTM experts on new advances, it is anticipated to increase the company’s revenue and the industry’s output as a whole. While such initiatives are not new, the rebranding of initiatives geared toward such a courteous approach to local collaborators is expected to generate more opportunities for both parties to increase the quantity and quality of services.

According to UTM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Rosli bin Md Illias, all partners played an important role in determining UTM’s success today, and the opportunity to meet with partners through the programme is also symbolic of appreciation from UTM in particular.

Several innovative products and technology from UTM’ were also displayed during the programme to introduce the latest output from UTM’s research activities. This appears to have met the targeted goal of reaching out to local industry and collaborators, as well as comprehensively marketing all services offered by UTM, including collaboration in research, consulting, innovation development, commercialization of research results, offering manpower opportunities to UTM students, and community service collaboration that meets the needs and benefits of all parties involved.

The UTMNexus Regional Tour (Southern Region) programme concluded successfully with the prepping of six collaborative projects, with the value of new research projects to be signed soon. In the third and fourth quarters of this year, such programmes will be expanded to four major locations, including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kelantan, and Pahang.
