The Badan Kebajikan Fakulti Sains recently organized the Ramadhan Care Package 2022 Program, collaborating with the departmental level of Badan Kebajikan & Rekreasi from the Bioscience, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physic departments throughout the Ramadhan month.

The program was initiated and spearheaded by Assoc. Prof. Ch.M. Dr. Roswanira Abdul Wahab from the Department of Chemistry, under the purview of the Badan Kebajikan Fakulti Sains and executed through the Ramadhan Care Package 2022 task force.

The program’s objectives were to create a systematic and synergistic channel under the Badan Kebajikan Fakulti Sains in which the Faculty of Science, UTM (FS-UTM) citizens can make donations during the Ramadhan month for selected retirees, staff, and students of B40 in the faculty, in particular, those from vulnerable low-income families or substantially affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This program manifests the FS-UTM citizens’ concern for selected actively serving and retired faculty members, alongside with B40 students who need help in easing their burden, in the spirit of giving during Ramadhan month.

Between 5th to 12th April, the FS-UTM Ramadhan Care Package 2022 task force successfully collected donations from the faculty members totaling RM10,000.

Most importantly, the Adabi Consumer Industries, through the General Manager of Produk Optima (M) Sdn Bhd, also donated dry foods comprising sachets of five different spices, as well as sweet and salty soy sauces for distribution to selected sixty FS-UTM B40 retirees and staff.

The donations for B40 retirees, staff, and students of FS-UTM were made on the 21st April 2022, officiated by Assoc. Prof. Ch.M. Dr. Zaiton Abdul Majid, the Dean of FS-UTM, and attended by the Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shafinaz Shahir, and Prof. Dr. Suhairul Hashim, the Deputy Dean of Research, Development and Commercialization as well as Mr. Azahari Ayob, the Senior Assistant Registrate of Faculty of Science.

The Directors of the Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physic departments were also present during the online ceremony alongside the Ramadhan Care Package 2022 task force and the faculty members.

Donations in the form of forty-three RM100 food packages were distributed to retirees and FS-UTM staff, while 90 selected B40 students received the donations through online bank transfer between 21-25th April 2022.
