Intensive English Programme at Language Academy, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

The Intensive English Programme (IEP) of Language Academy, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) began its Fifth Cycle on 25 October 2021 and ended on 6 December 2021. This programme involved 57 students from various nationalities, which from China, Somalia, Yemen, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Sudan, to name a few.

The course was conducted online to accommodate students during the COVID-19 period. It prepared the students to sit for an international English exam, namely International English Language Testing System (IELTS). During the course, students had the opportunity to learn four language skills which included Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and interact with peers in English.

The students were also exposed to the exam format, such as tasks, question types, and test-taking strategies. The IEP Programme not only caters mainly for UTM students but also accepts local students who have the intention to sit for the exam. The Fifth Cycle marks the end of the programme for the year 2021.
