Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS) alumnus, Dr. Hamood Al Kharusi (PhD Information System 2018) is a professional aspirant from Oman with over 15 years of industry experience involving business areas in the portfolio and program management, strategy and planning, change management, and digital transformation.
He started his career as a support engineer for Ericsson in which he was ranked as one of the top 15 engineers in the Middle East. He later joined Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the country’s leading O&G exploration and production company. In 2020, Dr. Hamood ventured into his own business after founding Transformation Pioneers, consulting firm to support organisations towards digitalisation.
Dr. Hamood has a Bachelor degree from Oman and an MBA from the UK. For further challenge and professional development, he decided to take PhD in Information System from AHIBS Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for its global research and academic reputation. In his thesis, he studied about stakeholder-based Government Enterprise Architecture (GEA) alignment framework for the Omani public sector. The framework has provided a comprehensive understanding of the factors and their influences at each EA development step. Dr. Hamood received the best student award for his PhD, published several papers and participated as a reviewer in international conferences. He is also professionally certified in Prosci change management practitioner, TOGAF 9 and business analysis.
His testimony on AHIBS programmes – “I highly recommend the programme due to the talented lecturers and supervisors as well as the university’s various resources to support the researchers to achieve their study goals.” Dr. Hamood completed his PhD in less than 3 years. He was supervised by Dr. Ts. Suraya Miskon and Dr. Mahadi Bahari from the Department of Information System.
Equipped with considerable industry experience and AHIBS PhD, Dr. Hamood has prepared himself well to venture out into the business world. His dedication is now to grow consulting firm in change management and digital transformation.
