JOHOR BAHRU, 10 June — Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continues soaring high internationally when the university, for the first time has made it to the World’s Top 200 universities, moving up to 187th place, as ranked by Quacquarelly Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2021, recently.

In the 2021 edition, the institution performed among the top 21% in the QS World University Rankings, marking the significant hikes of 30 places from 217th, which is the biggest leap among research universities in Malaysia.

The remarkable performance is largely attributed to UTM’s strong capabilities of researchers, with innovative, impactful and quality research, and employer review as the university members provided the best support in facilitating students’ learning experience, while harnessing potential talents among students to strive for excellence.

UTM has also been enlisted in Top 100 in Engineering and Technology by one of the three most-widely read university rankings in the world.

The leading Malaysian university is committing a good level of teaching resources as measured by the faculty/student ratio.

UTM is also set to engage in more impactful research collaborations that can ultimately lead to improved performance through joint publications and increased citations.

Researchers are always encouraged to work collaboratively with people from other fields and other universities as well as industries so that network is built and we can all learn from each other.

At the same time, UTM will continue its efforts in enhancing research collaborations with partners across the globe, especially in areas of mutual interests.

This would help UTM researchers to leap forward and stay relevant and visible among peers at the global level.

UTM Management would like to congratulate and thank all UTM staff and students who have created such an impactful synergy and contributed to this success.
