The Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Career Center has been named the Top 3 Best ‘Career Center of The Year 2019 (Public University)’ at the GradMalaysia Graduate Recruitment Award 2019 held on November 7, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, organized by GTI Media Sdn. Bhd.
The ‘Career Center of The Year 2019 (Public University)’ award is a recognition to the public university’s career center for its initiatives and contributions in providing career development and career preparation programs, career opportunities and industry links to enhance graduate entrepreneurship.
This recognition shows the significance of the centre’s role in providing career path to our successful graduates and alumni as 90.37% of them secured jobs within 6 months of graduating.
The Career Unit was previously a part of the university’s Counselling and Career Centre but starting October 5th 2009, it was transferred to the new office known as the Career Development Unit (CDU). By 2015, it was changed again and was officially known as the UTM Career Centre (UTMCC), headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Othman Bin Ibrahim as the Director, who reported directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs). UTMCC offers services to students, government agency as well as corporate companies with regard to employment opportunities and career development.
Among main contributions from UTM CC are providing advice on the available Jobs on Campus, holding Career Carnival, Career Talk and preparing mock Interview and Job Matching, and acting as the Career Resource Information centre.
