I@H: Kuala Lumpur Trip for New International Students of UTM Johor Bahru 2019/2020

UTM International via UTM Global Buddies had organized a trip to the capital city of Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur on 27th of September 2019.  The event was participated by the new international students (full-time and inbound mobility) and UTM Global Buddies. The objectives of the event were to introduce all the new international students to UTM Kuala Lumpur campus as well as the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. This program was held in line with the Internationalisation at Home (I@H) agenda.

For the first day, the visit comprised interesting activities such as campus briefing by UTM staff, Associate Director of Global Education & Experience, UTM International, Assoc. Prof Dr. Mohd Ariffin Bin Abu Hassan and representative from Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT). At MJIIT, they were allowed to visit labs. The participants were also given an opportunity to visit and take photos of the beautiful view of KL City Landscape from Level 17, Menara Razak. The participants were astonished by the sleek  design of the building; they spent an hour at Menara Razak. During the visit to Menara Razak, students were given the opportunity to meet the UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk. Ir. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar as well as Tan Sri Abdul Halim Bin Ali, the Chair of UTM Board of Directors and took pictures with them! After the visit to Menara Razak, the students continued their visit to UTM KL library followed by another photo session at #IAMUTM signage.

For the afternoon session, the participants were allowed to explore KL City on their own during the free and easy slot with the assistance from their UTM Global Buddies. They went to a lot of interesting places such as Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower (KLCC), Bukit Bintang, Batu Caves, etc.

On the next day (September 28th), the participants continued their visit to  Putrajaya by visiting its landmarks of Putra Mosque, and Astaka Morocco before departing to Johor Bahru at 5.00pm.
