NTNU Oslo Norway Delegation Visits UTM Campus and MBJB Tower Construction Site

The students from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in the company of Professor Svein Bjoerberg and Professor Hallgrim Hjelmbrekke from Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTNU Oslo Norway were in Johor Bahru on 11th April, 2019 to visit UTM campus and MBJB tower construction project. MBJB tower project which is currently at the construction stage is an epitome of landmark building that sets a benchmark for sustainable building in Iskandar Malaysia.

During the morning session, Professor Mohd Hamdan Ahmad, the Dean, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying welcomed the students with an introductory remark. The Dean’s welcoming remark was followed by green construction forum which both students from NTNU and UTM actively participated. The green construction forum was aimed at exposing current green construction issues and the implementation in Norway and Malaysia.

The students also took part in a technical visit to MBJB Tower construction project site in the afternoon, where the students were exposed to the latest green building technology and building components in fulfilling Green Building Index (GBI) requirements. During the site visit, detailed project presentation was carried out by Project Manager from Astaka Padu Sdn Bhd which was the main developer of this prestigious project.

Students from UTM and NTNU expressed how great and interesting the event had been. One of the students particularly commented that they “left feeling much more optimistic and excited about their future career in construction and built environment”.
