FAB wins Silver Medal Award at Invention, Innovation and Design

JOHOR BAHRU, 12 April 2017 – The Faculty of Built Environment (FAB), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) won the Silver Medal Award at Invention, Innovation and Design (IID) competition held on 9th March 2017 at Amansari Residence Resort, Johor Bahru Malaysia.

The IID competition was first mooted by the Universiti teknologi Mara (UiTM) main campus in Shah Alam in an effort to promote innovations in all faculties and campuses as feeders for participations at the university level Invention, Innovation and Design Exposition (IIDEX).

IID Johor was first organised in compliance with this requirement from the Research Innovation Business Unit (RIBU).

Nurshikin Mohamad Shukery who developed A Flexible Multi-Criteria Integrated Performance-based Decision Making: A Prototype, won the Silver Medal Award under the Professional Level for the Social Sciences category.

The research developed a significant tool for contractor selection, by helping organizations to select a competent contractor and decreasing the subjectivity of the decision-making process.

The advantage given by the system favours a reliable indicator to predict the performance of a construction project by selecting a contractor based on his best performance.

The UTM team members who participated in the IIID Johor 2017 are Dr. Hamizah Liyana Tajul Ariffin, Dr. Nafisah Abdul Rahiman and Syamsul Hendra Mahmud.
