JOHOR BAHRU, 4 October 2016 – A ‘Mobile Station’ modified from an old van was successfully launched by the Security Division of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in an effort to improve its service quality.
The launching ceremony which took place at the Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building, Johor Bahru campus was completed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar in conjunction with the staff monthly assembly.
UTM Security Director, Abd Rahim. Abd.Karim said that the role of the Security Division, which holds the responsibility to maintain the safety and harmony of the campus, was also facing challenges in meeting customer requirements.
“Therefore we have taken proactive measures to make innovation by creating the ‘Mobile Station’ which not only provides key services such as handling complaints and reviewing offences, but also the sales of periodic vehicle stickers.
“This vehicle will also be used as an operations centre for big university events such as such as Convocations and the new Student Registration Day and so on,” he said.
The Mobile station begun its modification August 15th 2016 and was completed on October 1st 2016. The idea to create this innovation arose after the divisional strategic planning set up which emphasized improving the service delivery system.
“A decision was made under an innovation project using the expertise of two members under the direct supervision of the Director and Officers of Security Division itself to realize this project into reality,” he said.
Costs incurred for the realization of this idea was RM4000.00 which was borne entirely by the contribution of members of the Security Division staff.
The mobile station will provide a range of services that emphasise a customer-friendly concept to ensure that all complaints are carried out with the necessary prudence, speed and accuracy.
It is hoped that the services provided by the Security Division, which is attached with the Office of the Registrar, can meet and satisfy customer requirements, and in turn enhance the image of UTM generally.
