JOHOR BAHRU, 23 May 2016 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) emerged as the Overall Winner in the 44th Public University (UA) 2016 Golf Championship 2016 held in Senai, Johor yesterday.
UKM also appeared best in several categories such as earning the first, second and third place (under Invitational Individual and Group category) the second and the first place (Guest category), third place (VIP Individual Category) and fifth in Net category.
The university located in Bangi, Selangor also won first place (team category), second place (Gross Team category), first place (Net Team category) besides obtaining the Best Team award.
The tournament, hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), was organized due to several factors including providing opportunities for the staff of participating public universities to interact and improve cooperation in the fields of management, research and learning.
In addition, this tournament could also encourage the participation of university staff in the sport of golf as a recreational activity for health.
A total of 380 participants from 20 of the Public Institute of Higher Learning (IPTA) participated in the UA Golf Tournament 2016.
All prizes were presented by the Chairman of the UA Golf Championship 2016, Prof. Ir. Dr. Azraai Kassim at the Palm Resort Golf and Country Club, Senai.
