22 March 2016 – University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has once again emerged as one of Malaysia’s best performing universities, in the latest QS World University Rankings by subject.

This time round, UTM was ranked in 12 subjects as opposed to 10 in 2015. The 2 new subjects comprised Physics & Astronomy, and Education.

UTM continues to consolidate its position as a research university in Malaysia with all 12 subjects ranked top 5 in Malaysia.

In terms of global standing, of the 12 subjects, 3 were ranked in the top 100 (Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Architecture & Built Environment)

2 were ranked in the top 150 (Civil & Structural Enginering, and Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturig Engineering), 3 in the top 200 (Computer Science & Information System, Environmental Sciences, and Materials Science), while the remaining 4 subjects (Mathematics, Education, Physics & Astronomy, and Chemistry), were ranked top 201-350.

The rankings highlight the world’s top universities in 36 individual subjects, based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.

The QS World University Rankings by subject achieved by UTM is a testament of UTM’s strength and expertise in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.
