JOHOR BAHRU, 8 June 2015 – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn. Bhd. and ProEight Sdn. Bhd. to pursue joint Research & Development (R&D) activities and Consultancy initiatives related to the development of academic-industry teaching and learning opportunities.
UTM Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar said, in view of this arrangement UTM’s students and staff will have the opportunity to collaborate with Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn. Bhd. and ProEight Sdn. Bhd.
The partnership between UTM and Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn. Bhd. and ProEight Sdn. Bhd. is timely as in order to remain relevant and competitive, University-Industry partnership needs to be forged. Such an alliance will facilitate University-Industry cooperation through activities in Research and Development, Project Commercialization, Consultation, Knowledge-Upgrade, Research Grants Acquisition, On-Site Industrial Attachment, Student Supervision.
The MoU document was signed by UTM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Jurutera Perunding Wahba Sdn. Bhd. Executive Chairman, Datuk Sri Ir. Haji Wahab Hj. Suhaili and Ir. Azhar Zainal Abidin, Managing Director of ProEight Sdn. Bhd in a ceremony held at Bangunan Alumni, UTM Johor Bahru.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismail Abd. Aziz and Dean of the Faculty of Petroleum and Renewable Energy Engineering (FPREE), Assoc. Prof. Rahmat Mohsin.
