KUALA LUMPUR, 21 November 2014 – Dr. Siti Hamidah Mohd Setapa from UTM Faculty of Chemical Engineering bagged a Gold medal through her invention, 3-In-1 Natural Beauty, at the Biotechnology Asia 2014 Exhibition.
3 other UTM Researchers also did UTM proud by bringing home 3 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.
The researchers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syahrullail Samion who won 2 Silver medals, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ida Idayu Muhamad (1 Silver and 1 Bronze) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mat Uzir Wahit (1 Bronze).
The exhibition was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KL Convex) and was jointly organized by the Malaysian Association of Research Scientist (MARS) and Protemp Exhibitions Sdn. Bhd.
The main objective of this exhibition is to showcase local, regional and international innovation in the field of biotechnology while gathering biotechnology experts, scientists and investors to share their knowledge with the purpose of continuing the momentum and growth of the bio-economy sector in Malaysia.
A total of 94 inventions and innovations in the field of biotechnology were exhibited.
With this success, it is envisioned that UTM will continue to move forward in the production of high quality Research and Development (R & D) products that can be commercialized.
