The Institute of Noise & Vibration (IKG), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur, was recognized as the recipient of the Best Major Infrastructure Project (Specialist Consultant) during the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2024.
The event took place on November 18, 2024, at the President Ballroom, M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur and was presented by the Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, in the presence of Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and CIDB Chief Executive, Datuk Sr. Mohd. Zaid Zakaria. IKG was represented by its Director, Prof. Ir. Dr. Salman Leong.
This recognition was awarded for IKG’s role as a noise and vibration consultant in the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit: Sungai Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya Line (Line 2) project, which was recognized as an outstanding major infrastructure project. The awards ceremony celebrated achievements in the construction industry from April 2019 to December 31, 2023.
“It is truly an honor for IKG to be recognized with this award, as it is highly competitive. We were selected through a rigorous process involving 40 evaluators and six specially appointed judges,” said Prof. Dr. Salman Leong, Director of IKG.
Associate Prof. Dr. Norhisham Bakhary, meanwhile, attributed the recognition to the team’s strong teamwork and dynamic expertise. “This award reflects the IKG team’s unwavering dedication to delivering high-quality outcomes in every project we undertake,” he said.
The MCIEA2024 was organized by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and aims to recognize excellence in construction outputs, organizations, and individuals contributing to the advancement of Malaysia’s construction sector. Winners are selected through a transparent process involving 40 evaluators and six specially appointed judges.
