International Conference On X-Rays and Related Techniques in Research And Industry 2023 (ICXRI 2023)

Selangor, August 24, 2023 – The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, in collaboration with X-Ray Applications Malaysia-Malaysia Nuclear Society (XAPP-MNS), orchestrated a remarkable event: the International Conference on X-Rays and Related Techniques in Research and Industry 2023 (ICXRI 2023). This two-day conference, held on August 23rd and 24th, 2023, at the prestigious Dorsett Grand Subang Hotel, Subang Jaya, garnered immense support from a consortium of co-organizers. These esteemed partners included Nuclear Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), International Islamic University Malaysia (UIA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), Kiswire Sdn Bhd, and the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM). In tandem with ICXRI 2023, the Institute of Materials, Malaysia (IMM) curated the Conference on Materials Failure Investigation (CMFI) 2023 on August 23, 2023.

The distinguished Assoc. Prof. Ir Ts Dr. Zaini Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at UTM, graced the conference with his presence and inaugurated the event. ICXRI 2023 aimed to serve as a platform for individuals and organizations deeply involved in advancing materials characterization techniques to share their insights and experiences. Additionally, it fostered an environment for exchanging information, engaging in scientific discourse, and cultivating friendships and partnerships. Materials characterization techniques have played a pivotal role in furthering research and enhancing services, making this conference an essential gathering for professionals and academics alike. Participants hailed from diverse corners of the globe, including Malaysia, Nigeria, Iraq, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Austria, Japan, and China.

A significant milestone was reached during the conference as FKM and UTM entered into a collaborative partnership with IMM. They exchanged signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) for the UTM-IMM Student Chapter and Memorandums of Agreement (MoA) for the UTM-IMM Professional Coating Inspector Certification (Level 1 and Level 2).
