ISS-Sudan Hosts Successful Welcome Day and Iftar Dinner for New Students during Ramadan

Johor Bahru – April 6, 2023 – The International Students Society of Sudan (ISS-Sudan) recently organized a remarkable Welcome Day and Iftar Dinner on April 6, 2023, at the prestigious University of Technology Malaysia (UTM). The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Ambassador Hassan Abd Alsalam, the esteemed ambassador of the Republic of Sudan in Malaysia, and the director of UTMi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan.

Eng Eihab Jameilalla, the President of ISS-Sudan, extended a warm welcome to the newly arrived students who embarked on their educational journey in Malaysia. The event served as an excellent platform for these students to connect with one another and explore the multitude of resources available to them at UTM and within Malaysia.

During the event, Ambassador Hassan Abd Alsalam delivered an inspiring speech, expressing his delight at witnessing such a gathering of enthusiastic students and reinforcing his commitment to supporting Sudanese students studying abroad. The ambassador also commended the proactive role of ISS-Sudan in providing continuous support to Sudanese students in Malaysia.

Ambassador Hassan Abd Alsalam emphasized the significance of the holy month of Ramadan, highlighting the values of community and compassion during this auspicious time. He expressed his pleasure in breaking bread together with the attendees during the iftar dinner, cherishing the sense of unity and togetherness.

The ambassador extended his heartfelt gratitude to the director of UTMi and President Eng Eihab Jameilalla for their dedicated efforts in organizing this event and their unwavering commitment to supporting Sudanese students studying abroad. Furthermore, he congratulated the Sudanese PhD candidates and new students who received gifts during the event, expressing his hopes for a prosperous and fulfilling journey for all students studying in Malaysia.

The highlight of the event was the captivating iftar dinner, providing an opportunity for attendees to come together and break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan. It served as a symbolic gesture of unity and shared values.

As part of the Welcome Day, Ambassador Hassan Abd Alsalam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin B. Abu Hassan, and Eng Eihab Jameilalla presented gifts to a group of Sudanese PhD candidates and new students, which were met with heartfelt appreciation and gratitude.

Isra Ali, the Vice-President of ISS-Sudan, expressed her sincere gratitude to Ambassador Hassan Abd Alsalam for his presence and unwavering support for Sudanese students studying abroad. She also acknowledged the director of UTMi for their commitment to fostering a supportive environment for international students at the university.

Moreover, Isra Ali commended the presence of ISS presidents who graced the event, acknowledging their dedication to promoting intercultural understanding and supporting international students studying abroad. She emphasized the vital contributions of exchange students from various countries, underscoring their role in fostering a diverse and inclusive university community.
