On December 17, 2022, the Arabic International Students Societies organized and held the Arabic Culture Day (ACD) event. The event was mainly organized by the International Students’ Society of Yemen (ISS-Yemen) in collaboration with other Arabic ISS from countries named Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Libya, Iraq, Sudan, and Algeria. The event took place at the Dewan Sultan Iskandar (DSI) Hall and was divided into two portions: a free daytime portion where guests could visit the countries’ booths and enjoy traditional dances, foods, and lucky draws, and a ticketed nighttime ceremony featuring performances by each participating country, dinner, prize giving, souvenirs, and sponsors being honored. The cultural exhibition was held at 9 am and ended at 2 pm.

The night event started at 8 pm and ended at 10.30 pm. It was attended by over 1,250 guests, including international and local students and UTM staff, with a significant number of VIPs in attendance at the night ceremony. These VIPs included the Ambassador of Republic of Yemen and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps to Malaysia, H.E. Dr ADEL MOHAMED ALI BA HAMID, along with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, H.E. Mr OMER MAHGOUB AHMED OUSHEK, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) Prof. Sr Dr HISHAMUDDIN BIN MOHD ALI, Acting Director of UTM International, Prof. Dr Nor Haniza binti Sarmin and representatives from the event’s sponsors. ACD2022 was generously sponsored by KPJ Healthcare Berhad (Platinum), YourUni Educational Services (Golden), Restoran Timur Tengah (Golden), and Pioneer Educational Services (Silver). All guests are served delicious Arabic dishes. It was a successful event celebrating Arabic culture’s diversity and richness. It brought the Arabic Culture to UTM, representing our official slogan, “Bring UTM to the WORLD, Bring the WORLD to UTM”.
