The Sustainable and Integrated Engineering International Conference 2019 (SIE2019) organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) had successfully been held at The Everly Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia on December 8 – 9, 2019. This synergized conference event was the first activity upon UTM Synergy 4.0 since July 2018. The conference was initially started with a welcoming message from the General Chair of SIE2019, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Zaini Ahmad. For officiating this event, Prof. Dr. Mohd Cairul Iqbal Mohd Amin, Deputy Director (Research & International), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia was invited to deliver the opening speech. In addition to this, plenary talks were given by our honourable guests Prof. Dr. Jiří Jaromír Klemeš, Head of Sustainable Process Integration Laboratory, NETME Centre, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology – VUT Brno, Czech Republic and also Prof. Ir. Dr. Zainuddin Manan, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) UTM. This was the first-ever occasion after all engineering faculties in UTM merged as a single engineering faculty known as the Faculty of Engineering. Apart from that, a number of keynote speakers from local and international universities had also participated in this conference. A total of 182 papers were presented orally in SIE2019 for a total of seven (7) different tracks within a two-day program. The tracks offered in SIE2019 were Computing, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering & Health Science and Engineering Education tracks. Although this was the first time SIE2019 was organised, surprisingly the Faculty of Engineering received a large number of paper submissions from authors all over the world including Nigeria, Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Vietnam. All the submitted papers will be published in Scopus indexed publication which were IOP and Materials Today through rigorous reviewing process by numerous volunteer experts in the engineering field and with the zest of maintaining the same standard and quality. All conference delegates had also been invited to SIE2019 Gala Dinner as social gathering and for mingling among them. The welcoming speech for the dinner was given by Prof. Dr. Naomie Salim, Deputy Dean (Research & Innovation), Faculty of Engineering. The participants were entertained by Monash Chamber Orchestra and it was a lively night. During the dinner, all the best paper awards and token of appreciations to all keynote speakers were given.
