12 September – UTM International Student Centre (ISC) in collaboration with the Yemeni Scientists Research Group of Science & Technology and the Yemeni Student Society of UTM have organized the International Conference on Recent Trends in Information and Communication Technology (IRICT) 2014. IRICT 2014 was held at the Senate Hall, Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building and officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Development, Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman. In attendance at the opening ceremony was His Excellency Dr. Eqbal Al-Alas, the Cultural Counselor of the Republic of Yemen Embassy in Malaysia., and Dr. Faisal Saeed, the IRICT 2014 Chairman.
One of the organising committee members of IRICT 2014, Anas Al-Aghbari said that the conference acts as a platform for Information and Communication (ICT) experts from around the globe to exchange ideas and share their expertise for the benefit of mankind. “If you want to know about the latest developments in the field of computing and information technology, then this conference would be the place to be,” he said.
54 papers were presented by both local and international speakers at the conference.
“Apart from papers presented by UTM experts and researchers, more that 50 percent of the papers were presented by experts and researchers from other Malaysian universities such as Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Multi Media University (MMU), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
International presenters were from Yemen, Pakistan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Sudan, Algeria and Nigeria.
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceeding with selected papers published in one of four Scopus indexed journals, namely the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, UTM Jurnal Teknologi, International Journal of Computational Vision and Robotics and International Journal of Advanced Soft Computing Applications.
