14 July 2012, Equatorial Hotel, Penang. – Innovate Malaysia Design Competition 2012 provided 5 competition tracks that involved 25 projects from 10 IPTA and IPTS nationally. Eight projects from Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) UTM have been shortlisted as the finalist for the Innovate Malaysia 2012 Design Competition. These 8 projects took part in 4 different tracks, the Agilent Track, Altera Track, Intel Track and National Instruments Track. Table below shows the shortlisted finalist that competed last Saturday. Projects will be judged on their innovation, specification or validation plan, practicality, complexity, and working design.
The MOSTI Innovate Malaysia Award 2012 will be presented by MOSTI (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation). The award winner will be selected among the first prize winners of the 5 competition tracks (Agilent, Altera, Intel, NI, and Silterra). The judging criteria would be on innovation and significance of the project. From the competition, UTM was the big winner where UTM obtained two 1st prize from Agilent Track and Intel Track; two 2nd prize, one 3rd prize and 3 consolation. On top of that, the 1st prize Agilent Track Project by Muhamad Khairul Amilin B. Muhamad Hassim, Mohamad Faizal Abdullah and Rabiah Adawiyahbinti Shahad supervised by Dr. Leow Pei Ling, Dr. Fauzan Khairi Che Harun and Mr. Mohd Azhar Abdul Razak with the title Lab-on-Chip Cell Counting System Based on Agilent USB DAQ has won the Grand Prize – MOSTI INNOVATE MALAYSIA 2012 Award.
