Johor Bahru, 7th February: Key Performance Index (KPI), which was introduced by the government today is still seen by many workers in the public sector as a profound burden to bear. UTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang said during the monthly talks that he had re-branded the KPI reference.
“The words mentioned regarding the KPI if observed can lead to depression because of the burden and responsibility that must be shouldered in the pursuit of accuracy of the scale of work that has been set,” said Zaini beginning his talk.
To revolutionize the words of Key Performance Index (KPI), Zaini has changed the word to Key Performance Amal (KPA).“Key Performance Amal has seven pillars which are also a kind of rules to be followed in order to achieve satisfaction,” said Zaini.
Regulation of the seven that are good or bad, the freedom to make choices, love passion and understanding, gratitude, the power of niat (intent), what you give is what you receive and happiness.
“I want to explain here about expressing gratitude to the worthy in receiving it,” he said.
He also relates an example of the word by giving the impression to the audience on the UTM campus which he said is better than the University of Qatar in terms of facilities and amenities.
“University of Qatar is the richest university in the Middle East with the highest endowment saving among higher education institutions in the region,” he said.
Touching on the power of faith and sense of direction, Zaini said the intention to establish the said target is to encourage a person to do what is best as intended.
“This can be attributed to our intent to become a research university as well as our efforts to save the endowment for a variety of reasons,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor also stressed on the concept of ikhlas in doing the daily work in the workplace.
“If possible try not to have the attitude of ignoring the work outside the job scope. Doing more than expected is good in terms of horning job skills and we will be blessed. For sure we will get back what we give,” he said.
He also said that the more blessings rewarded the more happiness the person will be.
“With more blessings within us, we will be enjoying ourselves every time we stepped our foot in this place to work, “he said closing his speech.
The gathering session held in UTM Johor Bahru campus was attended by senior officers and university staff. The speech was also broadcasted to the international campus in Kuala Lumpur through teleconference sessions.
