KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 – The Persatuan Mahasiswa Hindu (PMH) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur proudly organized ROBOMANIA 2025 which is a full-day STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) enrichment programme held at Dewan Jumaah, UTM Kuala Lumpur. The event was attended by almost hundred students from different parts of Malaysia, such as Pahang, Perak, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, and Kuala Lumpur.

ROBOMANIA 2025 was a major highlight and a bold move by the PMH UTM Kuala Lumpur, representing the club’s inaugural large-scale Robotic-STEM Programme of this nature. Despite facing many difficulties during planning and execution, the dedicated team managed to deliver a multi-track STEM programme, which proved to be a resounding success. The accomplishment is a demonstration of the PMH team’s and its volunteers’ commitment, inventiveness, and perseverance.

The PMH’s prior Puthiya Manitha initiative where this student-led outreach programme has brought robotics education to more than 180 primary school students from early this year and has been a pillar for ROBOMANIA 2025 program development. Robomania was developed in both the scale and the depth through a dual-track learning model that integrated Robotics with Engineering & Artificial Intelligence, giving the students a complete hands-on STEM experience.

A Two-Track Learning Experience

In order to secure significant and active participation, the students were separated into ten teams of which five groups were to begin with the Robotics Track while the remaining five started with the Engineering & AI Track. Once the recess was over, the teams changed track so that all students can go through both modules.

1. Engineering & AI Track

Engineering Track students with the crew members and program advisor, Dr. Pritheega Magalingam

Students explored the roles of engineers and their impact on society, various engineering fields and career pathways, the fundamentals of structural engineering through skyscraper design, an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning and clustering algorithms, the different types of learning – supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning – as well as a hands-on project using Google Teachable Machine and real-world AI applications in robotics.

The session came to an end with a practical activity of building a skyscraper that gave a lot of space to creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.

2. Robotics Track Using LEGO Mindstorms EV3

Students learned EV3 robot construction using LEGO components, programming basic robot movements, understanding sensor functions such as ultrasonic, touch and light sensors, as well as exploring real-world applications of robotics and automation.

The track finished up with an exciting EV3 Sumo Robot Challenge that allowed the participants to apply their knowledge in a fun, competitive atmosphere which was also a good practice for team building and strategy.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony was a success, thanks to the wonderful leadership of our Master of Ceremony, Heerthikraj Selvam, and the presence of notable guests:

Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan, CEO of MABIC, delivered an energetic and inspiring address that highlighted the importance of STEM education, innovation, and hands-on learning, while motivating students to explore future-focused careers in science and technology. Her speech was followed by remarks from Sharifah Fadzlina Syed Ahmad Helmy, Deputy Registrar at Department of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) (JTNCHEPA) UTM Kuala Lumpur, who commended the programme for its meaningful impact on the community. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Shreeshivadasan Chelliapan, Advisor of the PMH Club, together with Nasir Osman, Chief of Administration at UTM Kuala Lumpur, also expressed their appreciation for the students’ dedication and the programme’s strong educational value.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our programme sponsors; Faculty of Artificial Intelligence (FAI) through UTM Endowmen, National Land Finance Co-operative Society (NLFCS), Nestlé Products Sdn. Bhd. under the brand of MILO Malaysia and few kind-hearted individuals namely Dato Ts. Dr. Gerald Sundaraj, Director of the CIDB Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur; Samivel Krishnamoorthy, UTM Alumni; Laveneisyan from IRC; and Vemalathevy Periasamy, Ex-Auditor under National Audit Department who received recognition from the programme for their support in making the event happen.

Trophies and medals were given to the winning teams, and all participants received UTM certified certificates that confirmed their active contribution and success.

UTM Student-Led Diversity and Teamwork

The success of ROBOMANIA 2025 was made possible by a diverse team consisting of volunteers and crew coming from different faculties and ethnic backgrounds that all contributed to the making of the program. The teamwork spoke about the inclusive and united nature of UTM students that was shown in their involvement in the delivery of educational initiatives that had great impact.

The program’s success was largely due to the expertise and constant support of Dr. Pritheega Magalingam, to whom we give our profound gratitude.

Through ROBOMANIA 2025, students from all over the country were successfully motivated, and given the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, and AI in a very practical way besides the development of creativity, confidence, and team spirit. PMH UTM Kuala Lumpur, by leveraging on the Puthiya Manitha foundation, has set a new standard in student-led STEM outreach, proving that with the right determination, vision, and teamwork, nothing is impossible.
