JOHOR BAHRU – The Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FKT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of its graduates who have distinguished themselves with top university honours at the 69th UTM Convocation Ceremony.
Leading the list of honourees are three outstanding PhD graduates —Dr. Siti Nor Hawanis binti Husain, Dr. Norfarhana binti Abdul Samad, and Dr. Izzat Naim bin Shamsul Kahar — who have been conferred the Chancellor’s Award for their exceptional academic accomplishments, research excellence, and contributions to the advancement of chemical engineering. Their achievements stand as a testament to UTM’s commitment to nurturing world-class researchers and innovators.
Equally inspiring are Al Balushi Reem Abdullah Rashid and Makam Mba Michele Raissa, recipients of the Pro-Chancellor’s Award, who completed their Master of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering with outstanding merit. Their dedication and scholarly excellence reflect the global impact of FKT’s postgraduate community, representing both local and international talent.
At the undergraduate level, Lau Yu Xuan, a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours graduate, was honoured with the prestigious Tun Fatimah Haji Hashim Excellent Gold Medal Award for her exemplary academic performance and leadership qualities. Meanwhile, Boon Yin Lee, also a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours graduate, received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award in recognition of his consistent excellence in both academic and co-curricular pursuits.
The Academic “Gemilang” Award was presented to Goh Yih Fei, acknowledging his outstanding scholastic achievements and dedication to the pursuit of knowledge.
Adding to the faculty’s pride, Dr. Mohd Hardyianto Vai bin Bahrun (PhD. in Chemical Engineering) and Baraa M. H. Abdelbari (Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Honours) received the Alumni Award for their professional accomplishments and continued contributions to the field of chemical engineering.

Dean of FKT, Prof. Dr. Mat Uzir bin Wahit, expressed heartfelt congratulations to all award recipients, stating,
“These achievements not only reflect the hard work and perseverance of our students but also the dedication of our academic staff who continuously strive for excellence in teaching and research. Our graduates have once again proven that FKT is a leader in shaping future innovators and global engineers.”
