JOHOR BAHRU, 12 November: Three AsiaFlux Steering Committee members made a courtesy visit to Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ir Dr Zaini Ujang at his office yesterday.

They were AsiaFlux Network Chair Prof. Dr. Joo Kim, Dr. Akira Miyata and Prof. Dr. Sheng-Gong Li accompanied by Chair of the Local Organizing Committee Dr. Ab. Latif Ibrahim.

The AsiaFlux Steering Committee members are attending the three-day AsiaFlux Workshop 2011 held in UTM starting 9 November, 2011.

During the discussion, Professor Kim briefed Professor Zaini that AsiaFlux is a global monitoring network in Asia and its vision is towards regional and global sustainability.

He, said the committee is planning to use UTM as a window to look for South East Asia linkages and connect with industries in the country to promote UTM as a focal point of global monitoring network.

Meanwhile, Professor Zaini briefed on the strength of UTM and has more than 250 researchers in sustainability field. He suggested the committee to work with the team to get better results.

Vice Chancellor Zaini said UTM is a leading university in this country which implemented carbon footprint measures towards creating a sustainable campus.
