JOHOR BAHRU, 4 October 2016 – The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (FKMUTM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) to allow the establishment of IMM Material Student Chapter in the UTM Johor Bahru campus.
The signing ceremony took place in the Seminar Room, FKM UTM Johor Bahru campus with Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Internationalization, Prof. Dr. Rose Alinda Alias representing UTM while IMM was represented by its President, Mohd Azmi Mohd Noor.
Through UTM-IMM Student Chapter, both parties shall agree to carry out such activities or programmes relating to joint conferences, training courses, seminars and activities besides putting an enhancement of academic materials and other information for the benefit of students and also the public at large.
Through this memorandum, UTM will be benefitting from such activities such as industrial learning experience to its students, placement assistance for industrial training with material technology- related industries and Student Chapter paper publications to be published in the IMM Newsletter.
IMM through the IMM Student Chapter will be collaborating with UTM to organize materials technology seminars and conferences in the UTM campus to bring industrialists, researchers and governmental organisations to interact with UTM students and staff.
About fifty percent of the allocation of the students’ membership annual subscription fees will be allocated by IMM to IMM Materials Student Chapter to help subsidise the costs of its activities.
As a party involved with this understanding, UTM will carry out its responsibilities in providing services of academic staff to carry out any collaboration programmes between the IMM and IMM UTM Student Chapter.
UTM will also encourage its students to participate in any activities organized by the IMM Materials Student Chapter in addition to offering university premises and facilities such as auditoriums, lecture rooms and canteen to support any activities carried out by the IMM Materials Student Chapter.
