JOHOR BAHRU, 16 October 2014 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Deakin University Australia successfully hosted the 7th International Conference on The Challenges in Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) 2014.
CESE 2014 organised by UTM was the first of its kind ever been hosted in the Asian region which was only held in Australia before.
The three-day symposium was officially opened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Development, Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman at Persada Johor Convention Centre on 13 October 2014.
Programme Secretariat, Dr. Zainul Akmar Zakaria said that more than 210 participants including 150 international participants from 16 countries around the globe participated in this conference that ended on 16 October 2014.
The participants gained insights listening to quality lectures delivered by prominent speakers namely Prof. Kazou Yamamoto from University of Tokyo, Japan, Prof. Anthony Gordon Fane, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang from the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Prof. Xiaochang Wang from Xi’an University of Architecture & Technology, China and Prof. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail from UTM.
Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee CESE 2014, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Yusop said UTM was thrilled with the participation of people from various countries representing the diversity of experts from around the world.
“UTM was very grateful for the trust and the opportunity given to organise an event that really gets the international support,” he said.
Each participant was also given the opportunity to enjoy the Malaysian culture through local dishes prepared throughout the conference.
“They were entertained with cultural performances by 1 Malaysia dancers from the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and also visited Nusajaya, Tanjung Piai National Park in Pontian and UTM Johor Bahru campus,” he said.
CESE 2014 was fully supported and recognised by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).
