📝 Summary

The iSTEM Digital AEON x UTM: GrocerBot – Robots Go Shopping programme successfully brought together 170 students from across Johor to explore STEM concepts through robotics, AI, and IoT. The programme included interactive activities, a mini competition, and hands-on learning experiences that encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The top five teams received certificates and prizes for their outstanding performances in the competition.

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 11 – The iSTEM Digital AEON x UTM: GrocerBot – Robots Go Shopping programme was successfully held on 11 August 2026 at AEON Mall Tebrau City, Johor Bahru. The programme was jointly organised by AEON Mall Tebrau City, STEM-RBTK of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), UTM International Student Society (UTM ISS) and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tengku Mariam.

The programme successfully brought together 170 primary and secondary school students from across Johor, representing the districts of Johor Bahru, Muar, Pasir Gudang, Kulai, Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi and Tangkak. The encouraging participation reflected the students’ enthusiasm and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), particularly in digital technology and robotics.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the programme, 30 committee members and facilitators from FKE, UTM were involved in programme management, activity coordination and participant guidance throughout the event. Their involvement played an important role in ensuring that all activities were carried out smoothly while providing participants with a positive and engaging learning experience.

Throughout the programme, participants took part in various interactive and hands-on activities incorporating elements of robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). Through these engaging and challenging activities, participants had the opportunity to explore technological concepts through practical learning, develop problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

One of the highlights of the programme was the mini competition themed “GrocerBot – Robots Go Shopping.” Conducted as an open competition, the activity challenged participants’ abilities to operate robots, develop strategies and complete assigned tasks within the allocated time.

The competition saw strong participation and exciting challenges among the teams, with the five highest-scoring teams selected as the winners. The winners received certificates, AEON souvenirs and AEON vouchers in recognition of their achievements and efforts.

Beyond providing an enjoyable learning experience, the programme also served as a platform to nurture creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills through a practical and technology-based STEM learning approach.

Overall, iSTEM Digital AEON x UTM: GrocerBot – Robots Go Shopping successfully created an engaging and meaningful STEM learning experience for the participants, while encouraging the younger generation to explore the world of robotics and digital technology with greater confidence, creativity and innovation.

Congratulations and well done to all participants, teachers and accompanying educators, committee members, facilitators and everyone involved in making this programme a success!
