PETALING JAYA, Jul 14 – As the rapid pace of innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues, there will be an ever-increasing need for AI-related disciplines practitioners to understand new emerging computer platforms, systems that are intelligent, and autonomous systems.

With this in mind, Dr. Mas Omar Mas Rosemal Hakim and Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Hadri Sheikh Hussain, from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence (FAI), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), attended the EMARQUE AI: The Future Starts with a Spark event, where all attendees got a preview of some of the newest technological innovations in AI and current Smart Infrastructure and Intelligent System developments in Malaysia.

The event brought together a spectrum of participants, such as technology companies that provide AI software or hardware, AI practitioners, research institutions that study AI, industry leaders who use AI, and company representatives from businesses that are interested in using AI.

One of the major takeaways from this event was the insights provided by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at EMARQUE AI, Kiri Kaniathran, who noted that the NVIDIA DGX Spark with a 128 GB unified memory architecture has allowed for local deployment of large-scale open-sourced AI model architectures up to 70 billion parameters, allowing organizations to create new AI-based solutions while maintaining their sensitive data inside their own organisation.

In addition to the local deployment aspect, Kiri stated that this would also provide organisations with additional control over the issues of data privacy, intellectual property rights, and regulatory compliance, and reduce the dependency upon cloud-based AI solutions.

NemoClaw Agentic AI Platform and ASUS AI Computing Solutions

Technical sessions started with a presentation on NemoClaw by Damian Lim, who serves as the Head of AI Solutions at Glocomp. NemoClaw is an agentic AI Platform that allows organisations and developers to create and execute autonomous AI workflows locally in research and business applications.

Following this introduction, Jayden Yap, who is ASUS Country Product Manager for Server & Edge, demonstrated how ASUS’ use of NVIDIA Powered AI Servers and Edge Computing Solutions can provide support throughout all phases of the AI Development Lifecycle (from Model Development and Training to Deployment and Inference).

DJI Enterprise Regional Manager highlighting the latest autonomous drone technologies

In another session, Jodie, the Regional Manager of DJI Enterprise, demonstrated some of DJI’s newest enterprise drone products and explained many of the ways that these drones could be used for various types of industrial work, from infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, surveying and mapping, public safety, environmental monitoring, to emergency response.

The Unitree G1 humanoid robot showcased by Glocomp during the networking session

During the networking session, Hanasyafini Yusoff, Business Development Manager at Glocomp, displayed the Unitree G1 and provided attendees with an overview of recent developments in Embodied AI and Intelligent Robotics. This unit is currently involved in a “proof-of-concept” phase to provide an opportunity for use within the private sector. And a continued engagement between academic institutions such as FAI UTM and the private sector may create opportunities for knowledge exchange and future collaboration, contributing to the growth of Malaysia’s AI and robotics ecosystem.
