Ir. Amin Husniati Azka Ubaidillah, an alumnus of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from Indonesia, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in 2021. Today, he serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mandala Bumi Nusantara Co., Ltd., a company specialising in residential and commercial real estate development, property management, construction project management, and strategic site planning. His journey from a UTM engineering student to a successful entrepreneur reflects the power of technical excellence, perseverance, and visionary leadership.

When asked why he chose UTM, a university outside of Indonesia, Ir. Amin said because of UTM highly respected engineering curriculum.

“UTM provided a strong technical foundation that has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey,” he shared.

He added that the knowledge and skills he gained during his years at UTM equipped him with the confidence to tackle complex engineering challenges and navigate the evolving construction industry.

Following his graduation, Ir. Amin embarked on a career in the construction industry, where he spent seven years gaining valuable experience. Over time, his interests evolved toward property development, leading him to spend the last five years focusing on creating sustainable and high-quality residential projects.

His professional growth saw him transition from hands-on engineering and logistics roles into strategic leadership positions. Alongside his career progression, he actively contributed to the engineering profession through his involvement in the Institution of Engineers Indonesia, further strengthening his expertise and professional network.

Driven by a desire to combine engineering knowledge with a comprehensive vision for property development, Ir. Amin eventually founded his own company.

“I wanted to have direct control over project quality, risk management, and design concepts while introducing distinctive architectural styles such as Japandi, New York Style, and Modern Minimalist designs into the local market,” he explained.

As CEO of Mandala Bumi Nusantara Co., Ltd., Ir. Amin oversees a wide range of responsibilities, including property development, feasibility studies, risk analysis, construction project management, and corporate strategy. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, he ensures that every project meets high standards of quality and efficiency.

Like many entrepreneurs, Ir. Amin has faced significant challenges. Land acquisition complexities, accurate feasibility assessments, and managing construction logistics across multiple project sites require constant attention and strategic decision-making.

To address these challenges, he emphasizes teamwork and innovation. By building a strong internal team comprising professionals in architecture, finance, marketing, and administration, and by adopting modern management and accounting technologies, his company continues to improve operational efficiency and maintain a competitive edge.

Ir. Amin’s career is marked by several notable achievements. Early in his professional journey, he contributed to Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects as part of the drafting team for the Mass Rapid Transit (Moda Raya Terpadu) Jakarta. He also served as a supervisor facilitator for a national sanitation project under Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR).

As a Project Manager, he successfully delivered more than 200 residential units across North, West, Central, and East Jakarta, an accomplishment that showcased his ability to manage large-scale developments effectively.

One of the defining moments of his career came when he was appointed Director of Mandala Bumi Nusantara Co., Ltd., a milestone that reinforced his commitment to building a company that operates according to global standards.

In a rapidly changing business environment, Ir. Amin believes success depends on three essential pillars: continuous learning, industry engagement, and technological adaptability.

For students aspiring to become entrepreneurs, Ir. Amin emphasizes the importance of first mastering their technical discipline before expanding into business-related competencies.
