JOHOR BAHRU, 23 June – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continues to reinforce its standing as one of the world’s leading research universities following its commendable performance in the latest U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027, further strengthening its international reputation for research excellence and scholarly impact.
In the latest edition of the rankings, UTM is ranked third among Malaysian institutions, while securing the 108th position in Asia and 429th globally, reaffirming its position as one of the region’s foremost technological universities.
UTM’s research strengths are further reflected in its outstanding subject performances, with four disciplines placed among the Top 100 globally, including two subjects in the prestigious Top 50 worldwide. Polymer Science emerged as UTM’s highest-ranked subject at 20th globally, while Green and Sustainable Science and Technology attained an impressive 46th position worldwide.
In addition, Chemical Engineering was ranked 64th globally, while Water Resources secured the 82nd position, underscoring the university’s continued leadership in addressing critical challenges related to advanced materials, sustainable technologies, water security, and industrial innovation.
