JOHOR BAHRU, May 15 – The Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA) successfully organised a vibrant and energetic community event, Run For Unity 2026 (RFU’26). Taking place at N28A, Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), this year’s programme brought an exciting twist to the traditional running event by incorporating a 5km fun run with a thrilling colour run element. The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, foster social unity, and encourage inclusivity across diverse backgrounds.

With a total of 144 participants, RFU’26 attracted individuals from various walks of life, including UTM students, staff, and members of the public. The evening programme commenced with registration and souvenir distribution, as participants gathered in increasing numbers in preparation for the vibrant run ahead.

The main activities began with an energetic aerobics session led by the organising committee. Both participants and crew members enjoyed the warm-up, which featured upbeat music and engaging routines to get everyone physically ready for the 5km route.

Following the aerobics session, the 5km colour run was officially flagged off by Dato’ Ong Ying Kiat, director of the event’s main sponsor, Protools Hardware Sdn. Bhd.

Participants enthusiastically dashed through the route, embracing the physical challenge and the lively atmosphere of the evening.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as runners of all fitness levels pushed themselves to complete the course while having a tremendous amount of fun with friends and family.

A major highlight of the run was the colourful splashes at various checkpoints. Participants fully embraced the theme, crossing the finish line covered head-to-toe in bright powders.

Subsequently, the closing ceremony took place, graced by the presence of the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Prof. Dr. Azlan Mohd Zain, who officially closed the programme. Dato’ Ong Ying Kiat also delivered an inspiring speech during the session.

The event continued with the prize-giving ceremony, celebrating the outstanding performances of 6 winners across the two main categories: 5KM Men and 5KM Women. The excitement peaked during the lucky draw session, which rewarded participants with amazing prizes.

Following the prize-giving and lucky draw sessions, the organising committee took a moment to express their profound gratitude to the distinguished guests.

As a gesture of appreciation for their unwavering support, invaluable contributions, and time spent celebrating with the participants, special mementoes were presented to the distinguished guests.
