MOHALI, Sept 4 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), through its Faculty of Civil Engineering (FKA), successfully participated in the International Faculty Exchange Program (IFEP) hosted by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, India.
The two-week program, held from 20 August to 4 September 2025 and fully sponsored by Chandigarh University (CU), brought together distinguished faculty members from both institutions to exchange academic expertise, foster research collaborations, and deepen cross-cultural engagement.

Representing UTM were Dr. Nur Hafizah Abd Khalid from the Department of Structures and Materials, and Ts. Dr. Azman Mohamed from the Department of Geotechnics and Transportation. During the program, both participants were officially attached to the Department of Civil Engineering, Chandigarh University, where they conducted teaching sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, participated in research discussions, and contributed to professional networking activities with their counterparts.

Chandigarh University, recognized as the No. 1 private university in India by QS Asia University Rankings 2025 (Overall Rank: 120) and ranked among the world’s top 700 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2025, provided a strong platform for impactful collaboration. With over 4,400 patents filed and more than 15,000 research publications, the university is widely acknowledged for its research innovation and global outlook.
The IFEP serves as an academic mobility initiative designed to enhance institutional partnerships and promote cross-border intellectual exchange. Through this program, UTM and Chandigarh University aim to strengthen academic discourse, initiate joint research efforts, and cultivate long-term collaborations in the field of civil engineering.
In addition to academic engagements, the International Affairs Office of Chandigarh University also arranged a cultural and heritage visit program for the participants. This included visits to Capitol Complex, Shastri Market, Jama Masjid, Aam Khas Bagh, Sukhna Lake, and Rock Garden, offering opportunities to experience the rich history, architecture, and culture of India while strengthening interpersonal bonds between both institutions.

The initiative created a strong platform for knowledge sharing, research discussions, and academic networking, laying the foundation for sustainable collaboration and impactful outcomes in civil engineering education and research.

This initiative also reflects UTM’s commitment to advancing global visibility, innovation, and sustainable academic engagement. It is anticipated that the outcomes of this collaboration will not only benefit the faculty members involved but also contribute significantly to the growth of civil engineering education and research in both Malaysia and India.
