The MAKER FAIR of the Yayasan PETRONAS Coding4ALL (YPC4A) program occurred in selected states of Sabah, Sarawak, and Johor in August 2023. The participants who completed the training sessions in 2022 have finished 12 modules of YPC4A. The participants presented their project innovations at the event and received feedback from visitors, industrial experts, and invited academicians.
The Johor Maker Fair was the last of three events at the University of Southampton on August 6th, 2023. Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), represented by Dr. Nurul Ashikin and Mdm. Siti Nurul ‘Ain, respectively, along with Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Johor (JPNJ), were honoured to be among the expert juries from the academic field. PETRONAS Refinery & Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and the James Dyson Foundation were also represented by industry experts.
The participants were evaluated based on their stage pitching skills (communication and presentation) and booth showcasing abilities (technical presentation). The top 3 groups for each category received awards. This program has provided an opportunity for secondary students from low and middle-income families to learn about knowledge evolution, product development, and product pitching. The participants were fortunate to have been selected and received training and equipment from Module 1 in 2022 until Module 12 in July 2023. The support from Yayasan PETRONAS and PETROSAINS is greatly appreciated, and the students are grateful for the opportunity. We hope that these students will use this experience to enhance their knowledge and skills for a better future for themselves and all of mankind.
