IdEa to Electronic Prototype – A Webinar Collaboration between BMIE RG of UTM and Universitas Islam Indonesia

The Biomedical Instrumentation and Electronics (BMIE) research group (RG), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), has collaborated with Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) for a webinar sharing session titled “IdEa to Electronic Prototype”, which was shared by Ir. Ts. Dr Fauzan Khairi Che Harun.

The session was held for an hour and a half on 1st March 2023 via Zoom for online participants and offline at UTM. The sharing session brings the audience to understand the ‘helicopter’ view of developing an electronic prototype. Starting from the sharing of required tools for prototype design until development. In the webinar, the speaker shared how to leverage open-source design and identify cost-effective ways of electronic prototyping.

Once the users identify their block design from ideation to block diagram, to schematics design, printed circuit board (PCB) layout design, 3D structure integration, fabrication and assembly. The audience learnt to optimize their prototyping in this comprehensive sharing session. For the hands-on session, the audience learnt how to use Eagle CAD and Fusion 360. The speaker also shared tips to speed up prototyping by using pre-design open-source material. The session ended with a Question and Answer (Q&A) session. It is hoped that such a program could improve the mutual relationship between both universities.
