Kuala Lumpur, 5 July 2022 – Following the arrival of Her Excellency Dr Hajara Ibrahim Salim, High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Malaysia in May 2022, the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) International Student Society (ISS) of Nigeria under the auspices of UTM International paid a courtesy call to The High Commission of The Federal Republic of Nigeria to Malaysia. The elaborative courtesy call was duly received by the Minister (Consular & Education), Mr Ibrahim Babani.
UTM International facilitated the exchanges between the ISS representatives and the High Commissioner, aiming for enhanced cooperation, a strengthened relationship and an inclusive engagement of the High Commissioner with UTM Nigerian students. UTM International highlighted several active engagements between UTM and universities in Nigeria, including various mobility programs which have previously been conducted with renowned Nigerian institutions. Her Excellency Dr Hajara Ibrahim Salim expressed her utmost appreciation to UTM as the home to 321 Nigerian students and looks forward to ensuring the involvement of the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Malaysia in empowering UTM’s global prominence, particularly concerning the wellbeing and inclusivity of Nigerian staff and students in internationalization programs and activities. Her Excellency concluded the courtesy call with an important affirmation to the students that they are loved, heard and that they matter to the High Commissioner as the Malaysian home to every Nigerian in this country.
UTM International was represented by Mrs Hjh. Nor Azlinda Abu Bakar, Manager International Student & Scholar Services (Pass & Visa), Mrs Norfaeza Ali, Manager (Student Experience) Global Education & Experience and Mrs Su Zalpha Mohamed, Manager UTM International Kuala Lumpur. The ISS of Nigeria was represented by four students from UTM Johor Bahru, namely Mr Anyia Nduka from Azman Hashim International Business School, Mr Sa’ad Aminu Sa’id from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Mr Musa Adamu Eya and Mrs Susanna Zego from Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying.
