Malam Anugerah Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail 2022 (MERAK’22) with the Great Gatsby-themed, had organized on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Pulai Spring Johor by the Student Residential College Committee (JKM) 2021/2022, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
The ceremony was held to acknowledge the students who excelled in their academics and extracurricular activities and inspire them to maintain their effort. It also aimed to promote unity and compassion among students to help them reintegrate into society after the lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The ceremony was officiated by the Head of Administration, UTM Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Department (Student Affairs), Mr. Arman bin Md Yasin and attended by a total of 168 people, including the Vice-Chairman from the School of Computing, officers of the “Pasukan Latihan Pegawai Simpanan” (PALAPES), College Principals, Fellow Council and students. These invited guests came by wearing various eye-catching and stunning outfits to enliven the ceremony.
The ceremony started at 8:30 pm by welcoming the honourable presence along with the VIP line, Vice-Chairman of School of Computing, Prof. Ts. Dr. Dayang Norhayati binti Abang Jawawi and College Principal Tun Dr. Ismail, Lt Col Prof. Associate Dr. Mohd Noor Azli bin Hj. Ali Khan.
The ceremony received funding from the School of Civil Engineering, School of Computing, UTM Sports Excellence and the Student Activities Unit (HEP) to ensure its success.
Among the contested academic awards were the Civil Engineering School (Al-Jazari) received by Suria Ashikin binti Zaidi, the Computer School (Al-Khawarizmi) received by Muhammad Faiz Irfan bin Ariffin, and the academic award general (Al-Farabi) received by Umar Qayyum bin Mohd Farid.
Following that, other student awards receivers were Azamuddin bin Noorazham (the title of Sportsman), Siti Nur Lina binti Mohhar (the title of Sportswoman), Wong Pei San (Entrepreneurship Award), Senior Junior Officer, Muhammad Alif bin Md Yusoff ( the Best Land PALAPES Award) and Senior Cadet Officer, Azri Ikhwan bin Lokman (the Best Navy Palapes Award).
Besides that, the Staff and Fellow Council Service Award was given to all KTDI staff and Fellow Council and the Principal Service Award to the College Principal Tun Dr. Ismail, Col. Prof. Associate Dr. Mohd Noor Azli bin Hj. Ali Khan.
Awards that received the most attention were the Club’s Best Program Award won by the Go Green Program organized by the Civil Engineering Association and JKM’s Best Program Award for Cultural Exchange (CULEXC’22) which was the top bidder program from Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail.
The award ceremony was then continued with the JKM Award category. JKM Terbilang was won by PK Muhd Nur Izzudin bin Rijaludin, JKM Gemilang Male by Aiman Na’im bin Ariffin and JKM Gemilang Female by Nik Ilhami binti Nik Ibrisam.
The Prom King & Queen Award awaited by all attendees were received by the couple Muhammad Amel Haiqal bin Hasnan and Ain Nur Azwa binti Sidek.
Not to mention, there were also ten lucky attendees who received appealing prizes from the lucky draw.
The Insepsi and ReChasz groups’ invitations added to the energy of our event. For only RM60, participants received a sumptuous feast, mementoes, gorgeous images specially brought by the UTM Fotokreatif Club (KFK), as well as a memorable experience. All the invited participants and guests gathered for a photo opportunity as the ceremony came to a close.
