Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Indonesia had organized an International Webinar on “How To Write A Book/Book Chapter And Get It Published by a Reputable International Publisher”

In the event which was held on the 29th of July 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainul Akmar bin Zakaria from the School of Chemical and Energy Engineering (SKT), Faculty of Engineering, UTM Johor Bahru was invited as a Guest Speaker for the Science and Technology theme while Dr. John Ryan from the Southern Cross University, Australia delivered his session for the Social Science theme. The event was moderated by Dr. Arif Widiyatmoko, a lecturer in UNNES.

In this interactive session that lasted slightly more than three-hours, Dr. Zainul elaborated on the overall process of publishing an edited book starting from the planning stage until the final book publication stage. Dr. Zainul’s sharing was mostly based on his personal experience publishing two research books and eight edited books with international publisher including Springer and Elsevier.

This international webinar was attended by more than 200 international participants comprising not just researchers from UNNES but also from various locations such as Sabang (West Indonesia) and Merauke (East Indonesia).

The event was officiated by the Rector of UNNES, Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman M. Hum. In his opening speech, Prof Fathur stressed to all participants on the importance of publishing own research findings either in the form of a journal article or a book/book chapter. He also motivated the participants, especially the younger researchers, to not be afraid to publish with international publishers as this can ensure wider readership of the research findings. Dr. Zainul also took the opportunity to share with Prof Fathur and all participants the goodwill message from UTM’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail.

For the record, UTM and UNNES have an active MoU started few years back. This MoU allows and continuously promotes bilateral collaboration between UTM and UNNES staff in academic and research-related activities.
