JOHOR BAHRU – The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Gaza University (GU) from the State of Palestine to encourage the academic and research cooperation between the two universities.

The signing ceremony of the above MoU was held on 21 June 2021 via online application Webex with UTM and GU signed the memorandum at each other campuses in Malaysia and Palestine.

UTM was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail while GU was represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Riyad Hassan El Khoudary, in signing the MoU.

Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail in his speech said that these initiatives of academic, research and knowledge will lead to many benefits for both universities.

“This strategic cooperation will allow much larger activities of knowledge, expertise, idea and vision exchange between students and academicians from both institutions in the field of computing and engineering generally.

Prof. Fauzi said that UTM through its School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering has signed the MoU with GU recently but due to high commitment and active involvements from both parties since 2017, the universities have agreed to sign a three-year long MoU.

“Through this cooperation, it is hoped that UTM and GU will further strengthen the prestige and position of both universities nationally and globally,” said Prof. Fauzi.

“UTM through its global prominence strategy has set its sight in developing and maintaining smart partnerships with renowned institutions and universities around the world,” said Prof. Fauzi.
