MAPEK’20 or better known as “Majlis Pengenalan Kelab Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail”, was a program to introduce all clubs under Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail (KTDI) to new students organized by Student Residential College Committee (JKM) KTDI 2020/2021 session on 5th November 2020.
The program was officiated by the Principal of Kolej Tun Dr. Ismail, Lieutenant Colonel Professor Madya Dr. Mohd Noor Azli bin Haji Ali Khan and was held through Facebook Live as the main medium from 8.30 p.m. until 11 p.m.
The goal of this program was to encourage students to become more active and have the courage to explore and learn new things. Besides that, the program also aimed to mould students who can produce and develop good ideas and at the same time to prevent them from becoming too complacent in learning.
Since the program was held virtually, each representative from the clubs provided recorded videos that showcase their club activities and representation to the viewers. It was a great opportunity for them to introduce their respective clubs to other UTM students especially those from the recent intake.
Among the activities that were carried out during this virtual event were the delegation ceremony by the JKM 2019/2020 to JKM 2020/2021, the swearing-in ceremony by JKM members 2020/2021 session, martial art (silat) performances by Persatuan Seni Silat Cekak UTM (PSSC UTM), and singing performances by the talented singers of Aksara Resak Club and many more.
The students have been given enough time to register for the clubs that they are interested in. The current pandemic should not put a hindrance in encouraging students to join club activities. Not only it can broaden the students’ skills and experiences, but it can also provide an outlet for them to release stress during their e-learning academic session.
