BIM Centre for Digital Innovations and Solutions Received PENJANA-KPT Career Advancement Programme Funds

Building Information Modelling (BIM) Centre for Digital Innovations and Solutions (BIMCDIS), a flagship research unit focusing on BIM and construction digital technologies has successfully received PENJANA-KPT Career Advancement Programme funds amounting RM 290,640.00 from Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in an unveiling ceremony which took place at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) on 28th September 2020. Also present were Higher Education Minister, Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad, Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and representatives from Malaysia public universities and private entities.

With the funds, BIMCDIS, Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying (FABU), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) together with UTM Career Centre, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and private partnering companies will train 56 graduates in two separate modules which are: (1) BIM proficiency training on Building and Services and (2) BIM proficiency training on Building and Infrastructure.

The allocated funds which amount to RM 145,880.00 and RM 144,760.00 respectively for each module, will cover on materials, delivery and hospitality services to all eligible participants. Each participant will receive participation and competency certificates upon completing the module awarded by CIDB Malaysia.

The fund received by BIMCDIS FABU adds on to the string of services offered by the unit apart from the consultancy services in many areas of BIM. To date, BIMCDIS FABU together with CIDB Malaysia have successfully trained and certified hundreds of personnel with BIM knowledge and capabilities, joining the rank in the industry with information on BIM modelling and implementation.
