by Dayana Farzeeha Ali and Norulhuda Ismail

The Community Development and Education Research Group, School of Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities had organized a workshop on how to write an impactful systematic literature review article for scopus listed journals. The workshop was open to all academic staff and students from the School of Education, FSSH.

The workshop was held on 7 March 2019 and attended by about 30 participants. Dr. Muhammad Imran Qureshi of UniKL AMTEC Johor Bahru has been invited as the  speaker for  the program. He is the founding director of Connecting Asia Sdn. Bhd. and is experienced in producing more than 50 indexed journal articles. He is also experienced in conducting various seminars and workshops on writing for publication.

In this workshop, all participants were given knowledge and demonstration on how to find information using the ISI and Scopus database for producing systematic literature articles. Participants were also exposed to the methods and ways of writing impactful and effective articles.

Writing for publication is an activity that must be part of the  research culture among academic staff and students at UTM. This writing culture helps to produce outstanding academics and students with more creative thinking and the ability to diversify ideas. Writing is a skill that can be trained in terms of generating ideas, selecting ideas, translating ideas into texts and structured writing processes for compact, concise and useful writing. With such writing workshops, it is hoped that it will have a positive impact on academic staff and students in motivating themselves to translate their research into writing and be of benefit to other communities.
