The Undergraduate Research Conference or (URC) 2019 organized by the Office of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) on the 12th May 2019 at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia had successfully showcased 151 undergraduate student projects from four faculties.

The conference was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Prof. Ir. Dr Zainuddin Abdul Manan at the Sultan Ibrahim Chancellery Building.

In conjunction with this conference, 42 students pitched their projects at the 3Minute Final Year Project (3MFYP).

This conference brought together undergraduate student projects from various disciplines such as engineering, science, environment, social sciences and education.

A total of 17 panels from the industries from all over Malaysia were invited and worked together with the academic panels to evaluate the students’ project.

This event provided a platform to allow students to present their research work not only internally but to our respected industrial panels. This event also provided  great encouragement to our students to excel in their research project work.

A total of 17 best theme awards were given away by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr Wahid Omar to the best projects and this year the three URC special awards were won by Muhammad Atiqi Mustapa from Faculty of Build Environment and Surveying (FABU), Mohammad Al-Fattah (School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering) and Rosezalvia Dennis (School of Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities).

The Champion of the 3MFYP category was Anamira Zakaria from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science.

The Office of Undergraduate Studies (UGS) hoped that this platform will provide more opportunities for UTM undergraduate students to gain different experience during their research studies in this university.

Anamira Zakaria (second right) received the 1st place prize from the Vice Chancellor of UTM, Prof. Ir. Dato’ Dr. Wahid Omar at the Senate Hall, UTM Johor Bahru.
